I did stop by the computer shop on the way home from work Monday at the urging of my coworker, J. As I stood there devoutly wishing that the man would just fill out the service order thingie and let me go home and die already he insisted on testing the power cord and found that it has a short. He doesn't sell replacement cords for my model so I need to order one but they aren't that much on Amazon. Yay.

I was too sick to care much at the time though and I haven't gotten around to ordering it yet. Going to do that today.

I was asleep most of the rest of that day and the next but checked mail and such using the loaner. On Wednesday I actually could stay awake for most of the day and I tried using my computer and just jiggling the cord as needed and it worked pretty well until late in the afternoon when I was disconnected. Maybe it was noise on the line or a telemarketing call, no biggie.

Except it wouldn't dial back in. Oh well, it does happen from time to time that something gets hung up and you have to reboot to clear it out and get back on, a little annoying but no, biggie.

Except when it finished booting up and I clicked to dial in the trice accursed POS responded with an error message that translates to "I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that, you know I don't have a modem". What?

So, for the rest of the week I've been using the loaner because I was in no way capable of dealing with that even if dealing with it involved a fire ax. I'm trying to motivate myself to go reinstall the driver to see if that helps when I finish typing this.

With the loaner I only have access to the backup version of my bookmarks at Foxmarks and adding new ones is a PITA. I can't save pictures or stories and I don't have access to my files so I can't upload pictures either. MBC will only happen if I can convince my computer to get over it's neuroses and admit it has the ability to go out to that scary internet place. I will try to type up the much delayed review of the Fake OAV today though.

Healthwise I'm much better. At the recommendation of one of our docs at work I took zinc and it's amazing how much faster I got better than the last time I got really sick. It also seems to have helped with the low level depression that's been dragging at me all month but that could just be the effect of sleeping up to 16 hours at a stretch.
