This is the End My Friends
*sob*

I can't remember exactly how long I've been a fan of Inuyasha. I'm really terrible with things like that. I know Bachan died about a year and a half latter if that nails it down for anybody. It's gotten me through some hard times and I've made some really great new friends through the fandom. This is right up there with the end of Doctor Who (Which got resurrected) and M*A*S*H (Which didn't).

The biggest impact on me seems to be on my language. I used to hardly ever cuss, even in my head and thanks to IY fanfic it's gotten a little blue in there and sometimes it slips out. Feni has infected me with"Damn, damn, damnable" and I don't think I can get it out of my head.

The actual chapter was ... good. There were things that I wanted to see and didn't but on the whole it was far better than it could have been and we got lots of Miroku and a happy ending.

Somebody crank up the Inuyasha/Kagome reunion wedding night fic now. Please?

I totally agree with you. And frankly all I wanted was happy stuff for Miroku and Sango and I got that and so much more XD. Well, okay, one more than I expected for that point ^^.

Also with the fandom... This was my first long running huge obsession with an ending like this, so as much as I wanted one and I'm glad it's over, I'm kinda sad, too...

I mean, yeah, she did glaze over Inuyasha and Kagome, and yet I almost want that to be left to my imagination.

I really need to make icons... >D

Yes, yes, you do.

This wasn't my first fandom, not even my first manga fandom, but I really fell hard for it and got more obsessed with it then anything in a very long time. Kenshin came close but I never really got into any of the fan communities for it the way I did with IY. Never really FOUND any fan community really beyond a few individual fan's web pages.

The ending for IY, with all it's faults, is a hundred times better than the ending for Ruroken btw in terms of what we got to see and what got left out.

Yeah, yeah, same here. Although it all started as anime for me. I think it was reading Inuyasha online that really got me into manga. Which, ironically, although I had watched Kenshin and loved it, I really fell for it when the manga came out here. And yeah, in terms of finding other people through the fandom, Inuyasha was really... All this stuff hit me last night and I started sobbing XDDD

You know, you're right! The ending of Kenshin is like "Yep, they got married, here's a kid, Yahiko gets the sword, the end." And with as amazing as the story was before that, it was like "Huuuuuhhh."
ranuelranuel on June 18th, 2008 05:45 pm (UTC)
The manga was so much better than the anime for Kenshin even though I liked the anime enough to buy the complete set of DVDs (minus the nasty OAV stuff). It had more depth and the characters were handled better in the manga.

What IS it with the anime people and violent women though? Kaoru, Kagome, and Sango are all depicted in the anime as much more immature and irrational than they are in the manga. The guys get clobbered at least 10 times more often for less reason. There are people who actively hate Kaoru and Kagome based on the anime because of that.

I think I only got in the anime as far as it followed the manga, ha ha. But yes, the manga is sooo much better @_@.

I dunno. I think it's that those stereotypes are really popular, so when the anime staff is trying to think up stuff to fill in for the anime they'll just use those populars devices to their own ends. Using tropes like that has ruined a lot of good characters/shows, not just in anime...

... was that a hint? *wink*

The smut!bunnies were hoping for a reunion-bang-in-the-bottom-of-the-well, actually, but they're raunchy little bastards with no sense of propriety.

I predict many Adult!Shippo/Naughty!Twins fics of varying degrees of luridness. If I'd known RT was going to do this, I could've worked the girls into 'TL' as the future wives of Ieji and Ita! Would screw my timeline, but still, it would've been fun.

... was that a hint?

Why, yes!

I contemplated Shippo/Twins naughtiness for about a minute before realizing that he hasn't aged noticably in 4 years so by the time he is old enough they will be grandmothers at least.

Won't keep some folks from trying though.

I really think that they WILL take after Daddy much to his horror. To bad the cure for ulcers is 400 + years in the future. Karma is a bitch.

It would have been fun to pair the twins but I like your version. Not much chance of them taking up with Inuyasha's kids either since they will be three years older from the eldest and that's a lot more when it's the girls who are older than the other way around.

I'm rather surprised that she didn't age Shippo, but maybe kitsunes are an exceptionally slow-to-mature variety of youkai? They live an incredibly long time.

You supply me with some research on modest medieval village-type weddings, and I'll let the bunnies chew on it. The twins would be adorable 'flowergirls', don't you think?

Recomendation time: Pink Samurai http://www.amazon.com/Pink-Samurai-Bornoff/dp/0671742663/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1213818812&sr=8-1 covers sex in Japan. It's primarily focused on what was then present day ('80s I think) Japan but has several very good chapters on how the culture viewed love, marriage, and sex at various times. I think it's out of print but Amazon has used copies.

Read the reviews though, they point out some real problems the book has. It's still the best credible English language reference on the subject I've found. I need to go digging around and see if something else has been published since I got this 5 years ago.

*wrinkles nose*

Yer supposed to give me the 'Cliff Notes' version!

I have a terrific book titled 'Sex In History' by Reay Tannahill, which includes some great research on the naughtier side of life in Asian cultures, but I'll have to do a 'best guess' regarding a village wedding. Kagome wouldn't be wearing an uchikake kimono, you can be darn sure!

I think I know where it is but I'm not sure. Either way I'll send you something in a day or so with what I can scrape out of my brain.

'Brain scrapings'?

ranuel: Spork!!ranuel on June 18th, 2008 08:42 pm (UTC)
Oy! Those are perfectly good brain scrappings! Why in my day we'd have 'ad toenail scrappings and been glad enough for 'em

I made it today from a picture I found at The Door's website. Here is another crop of it. I can't decide which I like better. I may keep both.
